an unbroken reed

thought I’ve come hither to chill,
trusting my aches had gotten some balms:
my energy got sapped on a hill –
of medical training to learn urine-pipes.

my relaxation turned restless
sorely in need of an escape,
as more counselling to be fearless
showers around my landscape.

such words from my mama
such perspective from my sister
brought healing to subdue this carnal
as I learn temperance in faith that’s tender.

I’m like an unbroken reed
lessons learnt in pounds –
spirit of vexation does no good
unlike being patient in endurance.

A Calm

during our old days –
we were too busy,
lusting after plenty appetites.

a trigger of covid –
quench our adrenaline inferno:
then, we have a calm.

many died, many preserved;
excesses cut, cravings punished.
and, our sanity is born again.
